Celebrating Down Syndrome Awareness and Acceptance Month
In October, we partnered with Dr. Mattie’s Development in Neurogenetic Disorders lab to support our local community of individuals with Down syndrome and their families. We had a blast dressing for the occasion!
Moving into our New Lab Space
In Fall 2021, we moved into a new lab space. Here, our students have workstations with access to language assessments and other learning materials.
Melissa Bruce Receives ASHA 2021 SPARC Award
Senior Melissa Bruce has been selected for the Students Preparing for Academic-Research Careers (SPARC) award from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. This award supports her undergraduate thesis research on how young children talk about people’s thoughts, feelings, and other mental states during narrative storytelling. Congratulations, Melissa!
Rebekah Bosley Named LEND Fellow
Congratulations to PhD student Rebekah Bosley for being named one of the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) fellows for the 2021-2022 school year! The Illinois LEND program includes allied health professionals, self-advocates, and family members to advance healthcare delivery by fostering community-based partnerships and enhancing cultural competence through family-centered care. Congratulations, Beka!
